Life is full of ups and downs and there’re always dark days that make us downhearted and crestfallen. For most soldiers, these dark days must be the days on the battlefield when they have to face such harsh reality while they’re just too far away from home. But thankfully, these soldiers in Iraq already had a great companion to brighten up their tough days: a stray dog named Ollie.
Ollie was wandering wretchedly around the combat zone until they spotted the dog and adopted him, protected him from the elements. All of them adored Ollie for sure, but Ken Wyrsch was the one he attached to the most. Except for the times when he was on duty, the two were almost inseparable.
That’s why when their mission was about to end and they prepared to get back home, Ken was not happy as he should be. His burden was removed, but it also meant he had to leave his friend behind, which he clearly did not have the heart to do. Ollie was his friend, his family, an irreplaceable part of his life. They needed to be together, ánd there’s no way he could ever let the dog fend for himself hopelessly ever again.
Eventually, Ken decided to turn to the SPCA International for help. And lucky for Ken, they agreed without even thinking. The heart-warming friendship of Ken and Ollie had moved many people and thanks to their generous donations, Ollie was able to get on the road shortly after Ken left.
His trip from Iraq to the US lasted for about a month, and it was surprisingly fun and exciting! He was brought to California when Ken had been living, and their emotional reunion was one of the best things that happened to this world!
Ollie is now living a wonderful life with his best buddy by his side, and he will never be lonely again. Isn’t it fantastic?
Please share Ken and Ollie’s amazing friendship with your loved ones!
