Giving birth is painful, but giving birth to… seven babies is even more painful. It might seem unthinkable for humans, but it’s nothing strange in the world of animals. Most of them are able to get through it naturally, but many animals could hardly survive without the help of supporters.
Magnolia is a lucky dog who had a wonderful foster family to lean on during one of the toughest moments of her life. Not long ago, she was spotted wandering on a street in Texas, heavily pregnant. Because of her special condition, the local animal control decided to take her to the Hill Country SPCA for better maternity care. And thanks to the organization, Magnolia was fostered by an incredible family – the Morgans.

Maggie (as they liked to call her) fitted in with her new foster family perfectly well. While she had fun with their two kids and three other dogs, Aubrey Morgan and her husband were eagerly preparing everything they need to welcome the new babies. Aubrey was a little nervous since it was her very first time fostering an expecting mama, but she was pretty excited, too!

However, things didn’t go well as they imagined. The winter this year was a huge nightmare for Texas as an enormous ice storm pushed the whole state into crisis, and right before Maggie showed signs of labour, the power went out at midnight. Their house was getting cold quickly, and Maggie had to deliver her first four puppies in the dark.

Aubrey and her husband tried hard to keep the newborns and their mama as warm as possible, but it was simply not enough. The situation was terrifying, but it wasn’t time to freak out. They knew they had to do something, fast. And that’s when her husband started preparing the car for Maggie and the puppies.

Luckily, the brave mom and her seven babies were fine. Daisy, Poppy, Ash, Rosie, Dahlia, Clover and Aster were born safely and completely healthy. However, since the situation in their house didn’t get any better, the couple decided to move the whole family to their parents’ house and stayed there for a couple of days. It’s not until the power cut was over that the Morgans and their dogs were able to come back to their sweet home.

Maggie and all of her puppies are still doing very well and will be ready for adoption this April. But once Maggie’s gone, surely the Morgan family will miss her and her kids, a lot.
@raisinghiswildflowers They’ve been waiting a long time to officially meet the puppies!
