Little Boy Refuses To Leave Injured Stray Dog Hit By Car Until Help Arrives

Kindness is a gift from the heart. We believe that we can all make our world better, just by being a little kinder to each other. If you don’t know where you can show your kindness and compassion, look all around you and you’ll see opportunities to show compassion, kindness and thoughtfulness everywhere. Pass it on.

A little boy refugee from war-torn Syria named Hüseyin el-Hasan just got our faith in humanity restored after helping an injured stray dog. As a Syrian, he and his family witnessed gruesome acts and felt what it’s like to be in the middle of the war. During his life, Hüseyin has experienced more tragedies than anyone can endure. Luckily, the family found a shelter in the Turkish city of Kilis where they live as refugees. Despite his own rough life, the boy’s sense of compassion for others in need clearly hasn’t diminished.

When Hüseyin spotted a doggie hit by a car near his new home, the boy immediately rushed to help. He went home, took his blanket, covered the dog with it wanting to keep it warm, and then alerted the adults to call for help. Even when his own house was experiencing some heating problems, he didn’t hesitate to share his only blanket with the poor dog. While waiting for the rescuers to arrive, Hüseyin lovingly stayed by the dog’s side.

After some time, animal care workers arrived to take the dog to a local vet. Sadly, it was too late and the dog didn’t survive. This left the little boy heartbroken, but thanks to him, the dog was able to see a little kindness in her final hours.

And of course, his act of kindness was not forgotten. The city’s deputy mayor Cuma Özdemir visited Hüseyin at home to honor the boy and his family. Özdemir said that while the boy’s gesture may not seem like much to some, it shows the best side of humanity.

Hüseyin was given a new blanket and some other presents and was told his action that day represented the best in humanity, and we all need more of that in our life and our community.

One would believe that someone like Hüseyin, who had a tough childhood and was surrounded by meanness wouldn’t know how to be compassionate, but this sweet boy never lost his goodwill and the ability to show love.

People of Kilis, as well as Hüseyin’s family are all proud of this little hero. He is a proof how we should all live by the values young kids possess.
