Rescuing animals in need is always hard work, but it could be even more challenging if the target is a scared, doubtful dog or cat in an open space who could run away in literally every direction possible. Doodlebug was one of those stubborn critters, but thankfully Hope For Paws volunteers still managed to save her just in time.
The white poodle was dumped near a school and she had a really tough time fending for herself there. For roughly 4 months, the sneaky pooch kept hiding from people even though they fed her daily. Maybe some terrible experience in the past had made this poor girl so cautious and untrusting, including the abandonment of course.
Eventually, a kind lady decided to call Hope For Paws for help and the rescue’s founder Eldad Hagar immediately headed out after hearing about the luckless pup. Joining him were Katie McKittrick and JoAnn Wiltz – two passionate rescuers from his team. As the little dog was said to be capable of running in circles around the school, they already knew this mission would be a tricky one.
The rescue team quickly set up some barriers to prevent her from escaping and tried to lure the dog with food. However, the agile dog refused to come toward Eldad and she was also thin enough to pass between the bars, so they had no choice but to change their tactic.
This time, the team even used a wide net with Katie and JoAnn keeping two ends of the net while remaining hidden. Because they already failed the last time, the dog was more alert and they needed to be extremely careful.
Eldad chased the smart doggo again and she successfully avoided his leash, but fortunately she ran toward the net and Katie and JoAnn finally got her with a bit of help from luck.
